 Bandipur National Park

Bandipur along with Nagarhole and Mudumalai are major Tiger population area in Southern India. The tiger population in the Western Ghats is estimated to be a quarter of the whole country’s tiger population. Bus safari, elephant safari and jeep safari are allowed in this park. If you are expecting to spot tigers, it is best to choose elephant safari or jeep safari.

Situated in the Ooty – Mysore highway, this park is one of the most popular destinations for sporting tigers and elephants. The park covers along two states. On the Tamil Nadu side, this park is known as the Mudumalai reserve. The northwest region of the park with Kabini region is popular for spotting tigers during summertime. Besides tigers, visitors can find Nilgiri tahr, leopard, langur, Indian hare, and many others.

Best Time For Tiger Spotting is between March to end of June

Safari Timing – 6 am to 9 am and, 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm by bus; 10 am to 11 am by elephant safari and, 6 am to 9 am and, 4 pm to 6 pm by jeep safari.

Closest Airport is Coimbatore international airport, which is 85 km away from the park

Periyar National Park

Periyar national park is a well-known wildlife sanctuary and tourism attraction of Kerala. Besides tigers and elephants, this place is filled with Indian wild dog, sambar, mouse deer, wild pig, barking deer, Nilgiri Langur, Nilgiri Tahr and others.

As the probability of spotting tiger is very small in this park, you must arrive at the park early in the morning. Boating in the Periyar lake is the best way to see thirsty tigers with cubs. To increase the chances of spotting tigers, better bring along binoculars.

Safari Timing – 7 am to 4 pm on boat ride, early morning to 3 pm by jeep safari.
